What's the most significant lesson dad taught you?
As a young single mother, I had asked my dad if I should apply for a teaching job in the city where I lived. At the time, I had my degree, but was waitressing. He told me, "Well Beth, if the apple's ripe, you better pick it now or it will turn into applesauce." I then knew my decision. I applied for and got the teaching job and have been teaching every since.
