LifeStory

The Bileys

In the Beginning

By Elizabeth *

George Biley was an Irishman, who had emigrated to America, joined the U.S. Army from Chicago, Illinois, and gone to the Philippines to fight in the Spanish-American war.  While in the Philippines, George fell in love with Juanaria Capistrano, a Filipina, and they had two sons, George Biley, Jr. and William Biley.

At 21, George Jr. was walking through town and spotted Cristina Pagkalinawan.  It was love at first sight.  He asked her mother if he could court her, then married her soon thereafter.

They had 18 children:  1.  James (named for George, Sr's brother, 2.  Elizabeth (who died at just a few months old, while the family hid in the mountains during World War II, to avoid the invading Japanese soldiers), 3.  Jane Elizabeth, 4. William, 5.  Anthony, 6.  Gladys, 7. Elizabeth, 8.  Richard (who died at just a few days old), 9.  Frank, 10.  Grace, 11.  Eric, 12.  Karl, 13.  Faith, 14  Collin (who died at 4 years of age), 15.  Nanette, 16.  Patrick, 17.  Annie, and 18.  Franz.

Those children had a total of 45 (or so) grandchildren.

And the story continues...
