What's the most significant lesson dad taught you?

My father always told me, "If you ever get in trouble, don't call." He never said what he meant by that. To me, it meant to do the right thing. Don't make excuses. Make the right choice the first time. If I did these things, there would be no reason to call because I would not likely get in trouble. I like to think I've followed his advice. I'm retired now. My father has since passed away, but I try to live my life by doing the right thing, not making excuses, and making good choices.
