I took a moment to search for my pledge book and there it was: "Mike Crowley -loose leaf." - followed immediately with CHICAGO (in capital letters). That was Mike, the important stuff first - making sure to put his nickname and the City he was so proud to represent. Mike had a larger than life personality and the second you met him you were drawn in.
He was always the first to offer a word of encouragement, share a joke, or invite you to join in on the fun. I remember on one of my first trips back home, Mike was the one who invited me to stop by his house that Sunday morning so I could catch a ride with him rather than take the train - he was always thinking of others.
I remember running back into Mike at one of Rick's famous summer parties and we picked up right where we left off years earlier - the guy with the welcoming grin, the sharing of stories, that genuine heart-felt interest in how things were going, the pride in his family and joy in life was contagious.
I'm sure that Mike has already been appointed as the new social director in heaven - always looking to make sure that everyone is taken care of. A life well-lived, you will be missed.
